Bohemian Sunshine

One of my other hobbies on days I am not outside with my hands in the dirt.....being caressed by the breeze, and inhaling the complicated fragrances of so many contributors, or just plain ole sweating.......
Or when I'm not sweeping up copious  amounts of dog hair off our wooden floors....enough to create a kennel of creatures......
Or enjoying my clever husband's humor and entertaining personality on some bold and grand adventure......
Or visiting one of the most enticing, elfish, clever little creatures in the world.....
 Or reading, writing and arithmetic.......

And since idle hands are the devil's workshop..........
I am really into hands....hands down....the most entertaining of past times besides watching my garden grow.

I found a boat load of antique glove molds and am having a blast creating as many diverse and unique creations as possible....though I do tend to lean towards the cheerful, fantasy, or nature subjects.

I've customized, strategized, vulcanized, personalized and tailorized many a hand and still have a huge box full......

So.....if any of you guys are in need of a unique gift for a birthday, or graduation, or Christmas........etc......etc......etc......I can show you all the ones I've done or create a new one with the right colors and subject.......or use some of your own personal objects to create a keepsake.
And if not......I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and are inspired to go do something your love!

The Dog Days of Summer

Oh the dog days of summer are coming close to being over. These guys will be thrilled to have temperatures in a more reasonable range! Not that they have to suffer much as they sleep on the comfortable furniture in the air conditioned house and peek out the doggy door as we work in the garden. But I guess if I put on a coat similar to theirs, I might stay inside also.......
Having the full moon shining down in the garden is such a joy! It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.....

"With freedom, books, flowers, and the moon, who could not be happy?"
Oscar Wilde

By Jove......I've got them all and am I ever happy!

We had some new neighbors move in. Some a little more welcome then others........

The lively and the not so lively........
My sit down view of the garden is usually the same from one of my favorite hangouts...........

But up on the roof is a whole new perspective. I definitely need an upper story balcony.

Well....these are my August summer day reflections

and wishing for more happy garden days!

But wait......there's more.....

It's SPRING!!!!!!!!!...........but it is also 32 degrees today.......I do love my smartwool, layered under my clothes as I venture outside. You must understand that fashion is very important in the garden realm, for protection, for comfort, and for never knowing who......or what you might encounter.

My palms start itching to get out and make some changes in the ever-changing garden way before it's time to plant, so I do alternative gardening.....on the walls and other places that are in need of a boost of color.

And then comes the foundation of gardening......fixing the Texas clay soil to a more workable, healthy, crumbly condition. With help from my daughter, Jesse and my husband, John, we got one bed completely redone......added some expanded shale and plenty of compost and put our first batch of veggies in......whoohoo!

Usually, gardening is a time for meditative quiet, solitude and contemplation..........but occasionally it can be just the opposite........and that can be equally as pleasurable. Helpers come in all shapes, sizes and forms..........so as I wait for the perennials to peek out and green up, my helpers and I will enjoy this glorious time!

Add a little sunshine and water and look what pops up!
"Is that edible? Oh well, it doesn't matter."

"Can I dig the next hole?"

Anticipation

I've noticed that I have really neglected garden blogging.....though that does not reflect my overwhelming desire to spend time in the actual garden.

Here it is at the end of January and I always find myself at this point yearning for the warmth of summer (how quickly I forget!) and the anticipation of what the garden holds for me this year. Will I replace some of the old, tired plants with new vibrant ones? Will I rework the soil in the area that has been so ignored? Will I rearrange yard art? Who knows what this year will bring............

So as I wistfully await for springs warming awakening, here are a few reminiscent photos of the summers gone by.......Where the sun always shines........

And the invitation for visitors is always open.............

Where the views are satisfying and ever changing...........

And the sensational colors and exotic designs are pleasing to the soul.......

See you in the Spring!!!!!!!
